Magic - An Overview

When Atoz perished and their Ink of Creation spilled into reality, it did not fade. Instead, it soaked into the world, infusing every corner of existence with potential. This lingering ink is what mortals call magic.

Thus, magic is not “learned” or “borrowed” in the cosmic sense; it is drawn from the remnants of the Creator’s essence, reshaped by the domains and filtered through mortal understanding.

“Every spell is but a stroke of the Creator’s Ink - drawn again by mortal hands.”
- Magillion, Arch God of Knowledge

  • Divine casters (clerics, paladins, warlocks) channel the Ink through the Arch Gods.
  • Arcane casters (wizards, bards, artificers) directly manipulate the raw Ink left in the world.
  • Primal casters (druids, rangers) draw on the Ink as it flows through the living world.
  • Psionics or innate magic (sorcerers, bloodlines) are beings whose souls were born too close to the original Ink, and it bleeds through their essence.

Types Of Magic

Arcane

Comes from many different sources. Some items or places have inherent arcane power. Sourceres pull their arcane magic from within, where Wizards have studied and learned the arcane. Arcane magic is often used as a catch-all term for any magic that is not divine or psionic.

Divine

Granted by divine entities. Reverence and worship will sometime influence a divine entity to grant magical attributes to a mortal being.

Psionics

The power of the consciousness and the mind itself has magical capabilities burrowed deep within. Psionic magic is magic channelled through the power of the mind. Mindflayers and the Gith are species well versed in psionic magic.
