House Fayne¶
Motto¶
A warm hearth breeds a warm heart.
Ruler¶
Garen Fayne - 58 years old
He is known as a great warrior, but since there has not been war for many decades, his achievements in battle consists mainly of tournament winnings, killing monsters and random raiders. Thus he does not feel as confident as a warrior and a leader as his subjects view him as. In his later years this has made him rather reckless to prove his worth to himself.
He has an older brother; Jora Fayne. Jora was originally going to become the head of their house, when their father died, but when he was young he chose to pursue the life of academics instead, and renounced his position making his younger brother the heir. Jora fell in love as a young man. Her name was Althea, but before he was able to wed her, she became ill with greenrot (Den grønne råd). Healers from all over the land was summoned to save her, but no one were able to and she tragically died. This changed Jora and he was devastated. From this point forward, Jora became obsessed with studying the art and magic of healing. Despite his father's disapproval, he enrolled in the college of Hexion and became one of their brightest students. Later in life he became a maester and developed several cures to diseases, lastly greenrot. He became revered as the healer of the century, but in his older years turned to teaching and was given the title of headmaster of the college of Hexion. He never took a wife and did not have any children. He died in the year 999TA at the age of 70.
History¶
Originally was a collection of tribes living in the swamps of Aelmyr. Now refered to as The Glade. They worshiped obscure gods and raised several rune stones. The swamps were one of the last areas of Aelmyr to be conquered as they were extremely great at tactical guerilla warfare. In the last battle the original noble family of the tribes were killed and the family called Fayne were appointed to govern the swamps under the king of Aelmyr.
The Fayne family were mainly scholars, witch doctors and medicine men of the tribes.
