Limbo, The Plane of Judgement¶
Limbo is an Outer Plane where all souls are transported to, when their mortal vessel dies. It is the domain of Ious - God of Justice, where he judges the souls, and allows them entry to the Outer Planes.
When things die in Atozia, their souls are collected by Soul Reapers - divine servants tasked with collecting souls and transporting them to the Plane of Judgement, Limbo.
Geography¶
Limbo is a barren grey rock, completely flat and devoid of any settlements - except The Court of Truth. All colors are muted in this plane, mirroring the grey nature of morality being weighed here. The only colors can be seen in the sky above, where kaleidoscopic reflections of the Outer Planes dance, stirring hope in the souls arriving here.
The Court of Truth¶
In the dead center of this plane, lies a single grand structure - The Court of Truth. It is a tall arena, simple in architecture, seemingly carved from the same grey rock the ground is composed of. At ground level, a large archway carves a tunnel to the interior where an amphitheater is centered. Souls arrive just outside the archway, where they are beckoned to enter. Very few choose not to, and the souls fearing judgement are condemned to wander the barren wasteland of Limbo, until they can conquer that fear, and enter The Court of Truth.
In the the circular room within the court, the judge resides: Ious - God of Justice. In the form of a baby, Ious floats in the air, above an enormous set of scales for weighing the deeds and intentions of the souls. On the walls of the room are many doors, each very distinct and each with a plaque above them, indicating the plane they represent. When a soul first enters, all doors but one are closed. The only open door is the one leading to The Sea of Lost Souls, where Zhintos - God of Death gladly welcomes any soul. The souls' are then weighed, their deeds, intentions and devotion, meticulously inspected. Afterwards any doors leading to an Outer Plane, where the souls are deemed worthy of going, swing open, granting the souls passage. It is the choice of the souls, what plane they will enter.
